Last updated: March 2026ResQ Pwani ("the App") is operated as part of the Mombasa County Disaster Pilot Programme. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. By using the App you agree to this policy.

2. How We Use Your Information
- Route emergency reports to Mombasa County response officers
- Send you real-time alerts about incidents in your area
- Allow you to track the status of your submitted reports
- Improve response times and county disaster preparedness
3. Data Sharing
Your data is never sold to third parties. Report content and location data is accessible only to authorised Mombasa County emergency management officers. We use the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Messaging) — data stored on Google Cloud servers. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Maps — used for location selection on reports.
4. Data Retention
Report data is retained for a minimum of 2 years for county records and audit purposes. Account data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 6).
5. Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Data at rest is stored in Google Firebase, which applies industry-standard security controls. Access to the data is restricted to authenticated county officers only.
6. Your Rights
- Request a copy of your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw location permission at any time via device settings

7. Children
ResQ Pwani is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data, contact us immediately for removal.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
